Choosing the right southern base
Southern Serengeti and Ndutu are often discussed together in migration itineraries, but they should not be treated as interchangeable camp addresses. Ask where your accommodation is located and which protected area your drives will enter. A clear location makes it easier to understand transfer time, access arrangements and the charges included in your quote.
When to plan for calving season
TANAPA identifies January and February as an important calving-season period. The broader seasonal movement depends on rain and grazing, and a specific birth or predator encounter cannot be promised. If calving is your main interest, discuss your dates before selecting accommodation. A camp positioned well for one part of the season may not be the best base when the herds move.
What a day on the plains can look like
Allow time for observing the wider ecosystem rather than rushing between reported sightings. A drive can include watching herd behaviour, birds and the changing light across the plains. Tell your guide whether you prefer a long day out with a picnic or a return to camp for a break. Families and photographers may want different schedules even when they are exploring the same region.
Combining the south with other parks
Consider a southern stay alongside central Serengeti or Ngorongoro if your time allows. Work out the order around your arrival and departure points, then check the driving time between overnight stops. Avoid counting a long transfer as a full wildlife-viewing day. For a short holiday, a simpler itinerary with fewer camp changes can leave more time to enjoy each place.

Share your group size, budget range and preferred comfort level.
