Kilimanjaro Climb – Day 2 – August 3, 2010 – At the Big Tree (Mti Mkubwa) Camp

On the morning of Day 2 of our climb, we are camped out at the Big Tree (Mti Mkubwa) camp, ready to start our second day of hiking. We are at about 9500 feet above sea level, and it is a cool day in the rainforest. Today, we will hike 5 miles (8 km) from Mti Mkubwa to the Shira 1 campsite on the Shira Plateau.

Kilimanjaro Climb 2012!

In May 2012, a group of 34 Irish people led by Ian Mckeever , current holder of the fastest seven summits record , successfully summited summited Mt. Kilimanjaro! Our group of 8 Limerick teenagers aged 16/17 got in contact with Ian and joined his group he was taking up. We decided to raise money for Console, a suicide prevention and awareness charity. We managed to raise over 10000 for console. We also raised money for the local Masai village and local Cheti orphanage. We raised another 2000 for these charities. My friend Nate and I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the continent of Africa. We did a 6 day Machame route hike (which ended up being only 5 days) and successfully made it to Uhuru peak. This is a daily video log of our adventure. (music by DJ Fab)

Sports Relief 2012 – Kilimanjaro Climb

I'm climbing Mount Kilimanjaro later this year in July. Climbing the mountain will be tough but I'd like to raise some money doing so. I've decided to help raise money for Sports Relief. This charity helps so many people not just in the UK but loads of children and families over in Africa and other worldwide poor counties.
